The driving force behind one of the most iconic motorcycle films ever made, passed away at age 74 from prostate cancer. Dennis Hopper struggled with drugs and alcohol throughout his life and was recognized at various times as both a creative genius and a pariah in the film industry.
“‘Easy Rider’ was never a motorcycle movie to me,” Mr. Hopper said in 2009. “A lot of it was about politically what was going on in the country.”
