North Cascades Highway to Open Early

By John Davis • Apr 24th, 2009 • Category: Blog Posts

The North Cascade Highway will open a week earlier than predicted tomorrow.

Crews had anticipated the road would be clear and safe by May 1, but the Washington Department of Transportation announced that the pass would be open 8 p.m. Friday.

Crews started working on the pass four weeks ago with plows and snow blowers.

The pass typically opens between March and May and closes between October and January.
