Email Hack

By John Davis • Jun 10th, 2008 • Category: Northwest Cycle News Headlines

Family, Friends, Colleagues, Associates and Customers,

I am very sorry to report that at approximately 2:15 this afternoon my
Gmail address book was compromised by an unknown party. Emails were sent
out in my name to everyone in my Gmail address book. If you were the
recipient of one of these emails, I apologize.

I take great care with your contact information and all of the PC’s that
I use are equipped with up-to-date anti-virus applications. I do not yet
know what vulnerability led to this incident. Account passwords have
been changed and I am now operating from a different mail server.

Thank you to the many of you who contacted me immediately to make me
aware of the issue. (Although it wouldn’t hurt to hear from some of you
more often than when things go wrong! You know who you are.) I have
suspended publication of the Northwest Cycle News email newsletter until
I am confident that this incident will not be repeated. The web site
remains operational.

Again, I apologize for this incident.
