I’m trying to beat the Spring rush to get my bike ready for the riding season. I have scheduled a full maintenance visit with a mechanic and ordered a few upgrades and farkles to install while the bike is down. First up is a re-worked seat. The stock seat has never been great. I have heard good things about Mean City’s upgrades and, for the price, figured I should give them a try. I sent my seats off for the Double Memory Foam upgrade. In case there is an outbreak of sun, I arranged to borrow a stock seat so I can still get some riding in while I wait. I am also having a set of Progressive fork springs installed. From what I hear, this is a must-have upgrade on the VTX and greatly improves ride and handling. I can’t wait to see how the bike rides with these springs installed. On the farkle front, I have a set of Kuryakyn deep dish bezels for the turn signals, a chrome cover for the rear brake caliper, and, last but not least, a 139 dB Stebel air horn. That ought to wake up the cagers! Anybody else doing upgrades?

I’ll be doing the brake fluid flush and replace plus a valave adjustment on my ‘04 Road Star. I have just about 25,000 miles on it. Then I’ll install chrome fender tips. I also have a nice chrome logo of my favorite NFL team (Raiders) to attach to the rear of my passenger backrest. It goes great with the silver/chrome and black color theme. Post a comment
