A new law took affect in Florida on January 1. The law requires motorcycles registered to riders under the age of 21 to be equipped with a license plate that is “unique in design and color.” The new plate white with red lettering and states “Under 21″ along the bottom edge.
The intent is to aid law enforcement in identifying under-21 riders who are required to wear a helmet.
I don’t think is a bad idea. Except that it doesn’t go far enough. How about a special plate for under-21 automobile drivers? Or anyone convicted of DUI? Or anyone over the age of 70? At least I’d have some warning and could give ‘em a wide berth.
