Those riding over the North Cascades Highway are acquainted with the attractions in Winthrop, but just a few miles down the road you run right through the small town of Twisp. Aside from a nice little farmer’s market, there is also a great, out of the way spot for a meal and a brew. It’s called Antlers Bar and Grill, and it is all of both of those things. Down at the end of Grover street, it sits at a corner that affords good bike parking on both sides of the street. Once inside, the place is cool and shaded, and the grub is great! They even have some taxidermy on the walls as reminders of the great hunting in the area, with the ever-present jackalope on display. I had a club sandwich, and it came with a side of fries and was pretty good sized. The Antlers folks are all about menu substitutions, so order away. The music is good and the fun is infectious. They might just toss out a souvenier hat for the rider who has come the farthest to visit. My riding partners had the burger basket, and it was overflowing with food. I almost traded when one wasn’t looking, but the club was great, too. Prices run from $6 to $13 for lunch and that’s not including the drinks or sodas. It’s more or less family friendly, for older kids, but the bar is right next to the eating section so considerations might be needed.Try it….you’ll like it! Post a comment
