Westedge Cycles - Anacortes
By John Davis • Jun 9th, 2006 • Category: ReviewsSo the X hit 8,000 miles the other day and I took it in for a valve check and adjust as recommended. I knew it was coming and scheduled an appointment with Westedge Cycles in Anacortes. I chose Westedge on the recommendation of another VTX rider. Anyway, I was quoted $200 for the work I wanted done. A very reasonable price in my view.
I took the bike out Tuesday night as the engine has to be stone cold to properly set the valves. I met Rob, the owner and reminded him about what I wanted done and he assured me it would be ready to go Wednesday afternoon. The next day I called Rob to make sure that the bike would be ready. He said he was working on it right then and to call him back in a couple of hours.
Rob called me at 6:30 and said it was done. I asked how late he was going to be there and he said 10:00. I asked about what forms of payment he took (all types) and to confirm the amount. I said, “It’s $200, right?” and he said, “Nah, $150 will do.”
I drove out to get the bike and chatted with Rob for a while. He thanked me for bringing the bike in with a near empty fuel tank. (Removing the tank on a VTX is pretty involved and having to do it with the extra weight of 4 gallons of fuel really sucks. So I tried to plan my riding the prior couple of days to bring the bike in with as little fuel in it as possible.)
I asked Rob how late he was going to be there that night and he said about ten. His is a one-man operation so he gets interrupted with phone calls during the day. Still he is committed to getting his customer’s bikes back when he says he will, so he works as late as needed to get the work done that should be done.
Good work done on time at a reasonable price. Can’t beat that. Westedge Cycles, Anacortes, WA (360) 299-3489.
